Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
Happy Father’s Day! This quote, from the classic novel, To Kill a Mockingbird, is spoken by protagonist Scout on her father and one of our favorite literary fathers, Atticus Finch. Who are some of your favorite literary dads?
Also, don’t forget to get your dad a Father’s Day gift! A gift from the NYPL gift shop is the perfect way to tell your dad how much you appreciate all of his fatherly duties!

This is pretty terrifying. Shouldn’t a government’s first priority be to protect its citizens, especially its most vulnerable ones?
Just found out that my stepmother is pregnant. It feels pretty fucking awkward, especially since there’s going to be a huge age gap between me and my new sibling. (To give you an idea of how large the age gap is, I’ll be almost 30 when the kid enters kindergarten. Oy.)
I fucking hate USPS.
That is all.
Every time that damn commercial for The Purge comes on when I’m listening to Pandora, I can’t help but laugh. It just sounds so incredibly stupid.
I fucking hate Lululemon and corporate yoga. The fact that a lot of the people who practice it around here are super-judgey, arrogant types who think going to Bikram’s once a week makes them “enlightened” doesn’t help.
Things that don’t make you less of a feminist:
- Being in a loving relationship.
- BDSM.
- Being submissive.
- Wearing makeup.
- Being a housewife.
- Wearing dresses.
- High heels.
- Shaving.
feminine is not anti-feminist **
why is being submissive…

I wish it was easier to avoid “social justice” warriors here. I’m a huge fan of social justice, but not of accusing people of being bigots or otherwise horrible or insensitive people without any real evidence. :(
This adorable grey cat tried to follow me home just now. Gaaah, I wish I could keep it, but I’m not allowed to have animals at my place and it looked like it belonged to someone else. :(
(The cat also tried to follow my boyfriend as he was leaving my place, lol.)
